TRADITIONAL: I See Your Face - BALLPOINT

Description

My first attempt of making photorealistic ballpoint drawing. Abviously inspired by VianaArts: [link] - author of this famous pretty redhead girl. PS. He recently disabled comments I wonder why. Pity. Oh well.

Materials used:
4 standard orange BIC ballpoints red/green/blue/black
5 cheap chinese ballpoints bright blue/bright green/magenta/fluorescent yellow/fluorescent orange
Paper Canson 160g/m2 size a3

As it turned out later, paper was too thin, became a bit weavy under pen pressure and amount of heavy ink.

It was also a problem that I didnt had anything even close to skin colour except those 2 neon yellow and orange. In daylight it looks shitty, and when scanned even worser.

---

As some already know I made this as experiment to know how VianaArts drew his artworks. Well so far I have no idea how he blends his 8 colours so perfectly on such small paper sizes he claims to use but... Oh well. Maybe I will find out that one day. Anyways bigger size the better i think. And after all its a matter of exposure. Of light etc.

So... My curiosity and disbelief is calmed now, and 90% confirmed that yes you can make so realistic pictures with ballpoints only. I just have to learn or figure out how to smooth it or blend it better. And where the hell find those mysterious 8 colours bics that are alegedly available evrywhere. I would love to have them cause neon colours suck. :)
Oh and i also used my favourite 2heads, well I dont know but if someone feels bored then I am sorry. I will keep using them for ttesting all new tools. :)

So far made those (ballpoint black / pencil / charcoal / coloured pencils / watercolours / acrylics):

As reference used some old poster. Thanks for attention.

Trying to duplicate the technique of a master in your first attempt with a medium such as ballpoint pens is the same as trying to paint Mona Lisa in your first attempt without having no experience with oil painting.
